I was involved in a civil rights lawsuit in Federal Court, as a plaintiff (I sued ten cops for ADA and Section 1983 violations). I was able to get the legal fees funded via a Litigation Finance company. There are now dozens of companies that do this, and they specialize in funding plaintiffs’ lawsuits. And if your case has an expected financial windfall, you can get it funded. It would obviously not be interest-free though (they get paid for their risk). The good trade-off though, is that if you lose the case, you don’t have to pay the loan back.
